Keeping your Hot Stones for Massage Clean and Sanitary Bewtween Uses

It is important to make sure you are keeping your hot stones for massage clean and washing them between each client. Here are some tips on keeping your tools sanitary for use between your hot stone massage clients:

• Antibacterial dish detergent or soap is recommended, as well as Tea Tree Oil.
• The stones should then be rinsed in hot water, air-dried on a towel and sprayed with a disinfectant like alcohol.
• Using a scrub brush with antibacterial soap or tea tree oil to scrub the stones can be helpful as well.
• The water in the massage-stone heater should be changed after each use as well, and the water reservoir should be washed with antibacterial soap and water, rinsed and sprayed with disinfectant.
• The mat or towel that is at the bottom of the water reservoir in the heater must be replaced with a clean one.
• Using a light oil with stone massage is recommended, as cream, lotion, gel or heavy oil like jojoba are too heavy for stone massage and tend to stick to the stones and heater surface making it more difficult to clean properly.
• Having a second set of stones and a second heater is also recommended for back to back treatments and would be helpful in saving time between clients.
