Not to be confused with bee balm, Melissa officinali (or Lemon Balm) is native to Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, and is known for attracting bees; a fact that often results in confusion with Bee Balm. Lemon balm can be found used in the flavoring of ice cream and herbal teas, both of the hot and iced varieties, and is usually found in a combination with other herbs such as spearmint, or paired with fruit dishes and candies.
