Professional lash and brow tinting is a transformative service that enhances natural beauty while providing long-lasting results. Using Intensive Tint products, you can achieve vibrant, consistent results with every client. This guide breaks down the complete protocol for lash and brow tinting, from pre-service preparation to post-treatment tips.
Patch Testing: A Crucial First Step
Before any tinting service, a patch test is essential to ensure your client’s safety. Follow these steps:
- Mix a small amount of Intensive Tint and Developer in a 1:1 ratio.
- Apply the mixture to a cleansed area behind the client’s ear or on the inner forearm.
- Let the mixture set for 2 minutes, then remove it with a water-moistened cotton pad.
- Instruct the client to monitor for any irritation, redness, or swelling over the next 24-48 hours. If any reaction occurs, discontinue use and advise them to consult a physician.
Preparation and Pre-Service Protocol
Proper preparation ensures the tint adheres evenly and achieves optimal results:
- Have your client remove makeup, contact lenses, or glasses. Use Intensive Makeup Remover Foam to cleanse the lashes and brows thoroughly.
- Ensure the area is free of oil and makeup residue. Allow lashes and brows to dry completely before proceeding.
- Apply Intensive Relaxing Eye Cream under the eyes to create a barrier and hold protective pads in place.
- Place either waxed or unwaxed protection papers under the eyes, or opt for reusable silicone eye pads.
Mixing the Tint
For optimal results, use the correct mixing ratios and tools:
- Combine equal parts of Intensive 3% Developer (or Intensive 6% Developer) and the tint color of choice, such as Middle Brown, Blue Black, Natural, Deep Black, Graphite, Brown, Middle Blonde, or Ash Grey.
- Mix in a glass dappen dish using a plastic spatula or wooden stick until the consistency is a creamy paste.
Application Process
Follow these steps for a precise, professional tint application:
- Apply the tint to the lower lashes first using a round-tip brush or disposable mascara wand.
- Instruct the client to close their eyes, then apply the tint to the upper lashes, ensuring full coverage from base to tip.
- Set a timer for 10 minutes to allow the tint to process.
Post-Treatment Care
- Remove excess tint with a damp cotton round, ensuring no residue remains on the lashes or brows.
- Offer your client a mirror to admire their enhanced look.
- Provide aftercare advice, such as avoiding water or oil-based products on the treated area for 24 hours.
