I just read some surprising statistics on make up brush cleaning habits, from a Harris Poll on behalf of Anisa International. According to the survey, 39% of women who use makeup brushes clean the brushes once a month, while 22% have never cleaned them. The reasons behind not cleaning brushes range from the time it takes for them to dry, to not knowing they even need to be cleaned.
Cleaning your make up brushes helps kill any bacteria on the bristles, and helps prevent breakouts. You should be cleaning your brushes at least twice a month, more depending on how much you use them. You want to be using a make brush cleaner rather than just water and dish soap. Aside from the disinfecting benefits of cleaning brushes properly, you also help extend the life of the brush.
Aside from having a quality brush cleaner for your own brushes, be sure to have some to retail to your clients. You have the opportunity to educate your clients on why cleaning their brushes is vital to their skin health, they will appreciate you taking the time to show you care about them, not just the money they spend on services!
